Things to Do in Austin
Austin is a vibrant, exciting city with a never-ending repertoire of activities, entertainment, and food. Located in the heart of Texas, the capital city has everything from beautiful nature and hiking trails to a thriving downtown atmosphere and nightlife. Once you’re done learning everything AI at Time Machine, grab some Tex-Mex, check out a live show or two, and wind down with a night on the town.
What’s Not to Love About Austin?
The upcoming Time Machine summit might be the most exciting thing to happen in Austin this November, but it’s hardly the only thing. After spending the day at Time Machine learning about the future of AI, here are a few things to do in Austin while you’re in town—although we can’t guarantee that you’ll have a better time than you will at Time Machine!
Enjoy the Nightlife
Austin, Texas is known for being the “Live Music Capital of the World” for a reason. Because Austin is home to dozens of activities daily, it’s easy to stumble across a captivating musical performance, art exhibition, or any other form of entertainment. Who knows? You might even discover your next favorite performing artist while you’re here!
Eat Like a Texan
While standing in the hours-long line for Franklin Barbecue is likely not an option for authentic Texan cuisine, there are plenty of other restaurants to check out downtown. Lambert’s is a good option for smoked meats, Jo’s Coffee offers a caffeine jolt and essential breakfast tacos, La Condesa offers upscale Mexican food, and Easy Tiger is a lively bakery and beer garden to unwind with a pint and a pretzel.
While Austin is very much a high-tech city, it also harbors ample opportunity to unplug. Go for a run around the Hike & Bike trail, hike the greenbelt, or check out a class at Wanderlust Yoga, directly adjacent to the Time Machine venue. Even in November, the weather should be warm enough to partake in these activities and appreciate the beauty of Central Texas.
Visit the Capitol
Austin is home to the historic Texas State Capitol. The Capitol offers free, 30-minute guided tours that blend national, state and local history with fun facts and trivia about the lonestar state. Time Machine 2018 will be walking distance from the Capitol, and it’s definitely worth the visit while in Austin.
Get that Coin
Looking for an easy and fast way to buy and sell bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies? Austin has 12 bitcoin ATMs that you can visit while you’re in town. In 2014, Austin became the first city in the U.S. to have a Robocoin Bitcoin ATM machine, and has since become one of the hottest bitcoin cities.
