General John R. AllenUSMC (Ret.)

    As one of the United States’s leading and most seasoned wartime commanders, Gen. John R. Allen served the nation as a Marine Corps four-star General, and as Commander of the International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A). On September 13th, 2014, President Barack Obama appointed Gen. Allen as Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL.

     

    Gen. Allen is a highly decorated officer, whose awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Leftwich Leadership Trophy, and Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia. After retiring from the military, Allen served as an adviser to Secretary of State John Kerry and former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. He now sits on SparkCognition’s Board as Executive Board Member.
